Giving Your Child An AllowanceAllowances teach your children responsibility. How much money you give your daughter will depend on how old she is, how much money you have available in your budget, and how much work she does around the house. You can follow the time-out rule and give your daughter one dollar for every year of her age, you can pay her minimum wage, or you can give her a set fee. If you're looking for an exact amount, you could give her $5 per week to blow and then require her to do extra chores around the house for other "wants."
