October 12, 2007, Newsletter Issue #229: Inappropriate Birthday Gift

Tip of the Week

If your child receives an inappropriate birthday gift, depending on your relationship with the person who gave the gift, you could explain to them that you do not feel that the gift is appropriate, and explain to them the types of gifts your child likes and are appropriate. If the person is someone that will be giving your child gifts every year, it is best to tell them the truth, and be honest with them, or else you will be receiving inappropriate gifts every year. If the gift is a one-time thing, you can accept the gift, and return it later explaining the reasons to your child.
