Experts believe that giving aspirin to children under the age of 18 may put them at risk for Reye's Syndrome, which is a rare, but potentially fatal disease of the liver and brain that strikes during recovery from a viral illness. To be safe, do not give your kids aspirin or stomach-upset medications that contain salicylates which are in the same drug family as aspirin.
